Thanks for visiting Sierra middle school!

Sierra Middle School: Where Greatness Happens.  Sierra is the only traditional middle school in the Lincoln Unified School District. Sierra is a school of approximately 625 seventh and eighth grade students.  Sierra currently offers students seven periods of instruction per day. Classes consist of mathematics, language arts, science, social studies,physical education and two electives. Electives include, but are not limited to, band, chorus, orchestra,theater, leadership, yearbook, journalism, technology, weight training, and Targeted Instruction electives.  

 Sierra has a school uniform policy.  Uniform colors include blue, gray, khaki, and white. Colors must be solid and clothes may not have logos. 

Sierra has a comprehensive after-school program with an emphasis on homework help,supplemental academic assistance, healthy living, and engaging activities for students.  Sierra utilizes a Homework Center that is open three days per week after school for one hour. 

 With appropriate test scores, parent request and teacher recommendation, 7thgraders may take either honors pre-algebra or college prep algebra 1.  GATE students are clustered together in core classes.

Sierra Middle School uses the following core principles—as outlined by the National Forum to Accelerate Middle-Grades Reform—to orchestrate decisions and to guide the vision of the school.  As a school we strive to have all programs be academically excellent, developmentally responsive, and socially equitable.  The California Department of Education publication “Taking Center Stage-Act 2” and the Ed source study “Middle Grades Success” also serves as guidelines for Sierra Middle School improvement.

We are “Committed to Excellence”, and we work hard to make the site a primary source for timely information for all users, and a main gateway for improved communication between parents, teachers, students and other members of our community. Our goal and responsibility is to help each student develop an enthusiasm for learning, a respect for self and others, and the skills to become a creative independent thinker and problem solver.

Our school receives Title I funds from the federal government. We use these funds to provide extra services and materials to enhance the educational programs for our students performing below grade level. Read the School of Choice Letter.
